This being November 1st means yesterday was Halloween. As I was scrolling through the internet yesterday I came across a post of a neighbourhood right here in Cambridge that was going the extra distance to celebrate the spooky holiday. They decorated their properties and many of them followed a theme. This year’s theme is television shows. It was a chilly afternoon but in the interest of seeing the displays and getting some exercise, my wife and I ventured to the west side of Galt (which is a part of Cambridge), parked the SUV, and strolled the neighbourhood.

It was refreshing. And, I’m not referring to the air and temperatures. Everywhere we went there were signs “Our heroes wear scrubs” and thanking our front line workers. There were lawn signs supporting this year’s virtual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” campaign. Then there were the decorations. This was definitely a neighbourhood of community leaders.

Most of the displays have lights on them and I am sure it would be a lovely evening outing. I certainly hope they intend to leave the displays up for a while for others to enjoy.
