AN EXERCISE IN SEEING

You never know where a cup of coffee might lead you. The date was October 21st (this past Monday), and I went to one of my favourite cafes (The Grand Cafe) for my morning coffee and some quiet time to enjoy a good book. When I finished, it was after 10 o’clock, which was not the best time of the day to think of taking photographs outdoors.

Nonetheless, here I was. The sun was shining. It was warm for a late fall morning and too nice to go home and sit inside. The sunlight was doing what sunlight does: casting shadows across the ground. I decided to take out my camera and photograph what I saw as an exercise, concentrating on “light and shadows.” I tried to focus on the composition. shapes and textures that surrounded me, thanks to the warming sunlight.

I hope you enjoy these images. Leave a comment, tell me which is your favourite.

It feels good to stretch your vision and your mind. I need to do this more.
