Friends make great subjects

Friends make great subjects — especially when they’re “furry.”

About 15 years ago I approached the Cambridge and District Humane Society with the idea of doing a fund raiser. If people would donate to the humane society I would give them a mini session and a portrait print as a thank you for their donation. That first year was a bit of a test. Since then the event has been fully booked each and every year.

A few years later the idea of using the photographs from the event for a calendar was developed. Not only could the animals in the care of the Cambridge and District Humane Society benefit from the donations but they would also receive money from the sale of the calendars.

“Furry Friends Foto Fun” is a huge success because of the co-operation and hard work of the girls from the humane society.  They book the appointments and assist me on the day of the shoot by handling the pets.

On November 3rd we held Furry Friends Foto Fun 2018 and created portraits of some great “fur kids.” I have spent the last two weeks narrowing the images down to the best of each dog or cat. Below are the final selections of this year’s sessions.

Special images start conversations

This year for the first time there were a few special image (in my opinion) that were not portraits that I would want to give to the pet owner but would definitely be conversation pieces if included in the calendar. So this year I am going to add these special images for the panel of judges to consider when they pick the portraits that will grace the pages of the 2020 Cambridge and District Humane Society Calendar. Those special images are below.

I hope you enjoy this years images and will consider supporting the Cambridge and District Humane Society by buying a calendar or lottery ticket.  With your help they can continue to do good work.
