It was sunny and warmer this morning as I parked the SUV and retrieved my camera and 70-200 mm lens. I was at the intersection of Highways 24 and 8 in Cambridge, known as “The Delta.”  Thinking of it now, I was probably parked in about the same spot I parked in the early 70’s when I worked for InterRoyal. Everything really does go full circle. 

I had driven through the intersecion several times in recent weeks and noticed the steel work growing on the end of the BWXT plant. The locals still know it as Babcock & Wilcox, or if you’re really old, loke me it’s Babcock, Wilcox & Goldie McCulloch. Many would look at the expansion, consider the size or the strength of the girders. As an artist I saw lines, shapes and textures; something to be photographed. 

The new structure is quite impressive to look at from the intersection. The company announced the expansion a year ago in April of 2024. You can read about it and the 200 jobs they will create in this article.

As I walked pass the construction I noticed a stairway had already been installed. Lines and shape caught my attention. 

Before leaving “The Delta” this morning I felt I had to take a closer look (from across the road) of the bus shelter area. I’m not sure how all these little box things improve the quality or efficiency of our public transportation system, but here they are. I’m sure someone much smarter than me can explain to you how they make the buses go faster or stay on time better.
