Do you remember winters like this?

OXTONGUE RAPIDS – WINTER 2019

Do you remember old fashioned winters where snowbanks were so high you thought you could touch the phone lines? Did you ever have to fight to free yourself from snow that was chest deep?

This was my first winter trip to Algonquin. There was awe, peace and fear in all that laid around us. I was wearing snowshoes for the first time, trying to keep the left shoe off the right while selecting my footing carefully, making sure the bank beneath me didn’t give way sending me into the fast moving river below.
