July 8, 2017 is the 100th anniversary of the death of Tom Thomson. To this day his death is a mystery. His burial location is a mystery. His talent is no mystery.
Fallen Timber is an example of Thomson’s early work with softer muted colour with a lot of grey and brown.

There are a number of activities this month honouring the anniversary of the death of this great Canadian artist. Check the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg. In fact I here all activity at McMichael this weekend is free thanks to the generosity of RBC.
Early Spring is believed to be from Tom Thomson’s last spring in Algonquin Park – 1917. By this point he was widely using more vivid colours.
