What you will find here:
If you are looking for John Mitchell Photography of Cambridge Ontario, I have retired and am no longer accepting commissioned assignments.
This site is now for sharing and selling of “fine art” images of John Mitchell. The images presented are an expression of values that I believe in. You will find a combination of landscape, architecture, and photo-journalistic images. And yes, portraits. Portraiture has always been my first love when it comes to photography.
In the “blog” I will share my thoughts and images of the world around me.
What you will NOT find are any “AI” (artificial intelligence) or composite images.
I hope you will take the time to read on, learn more, and take the time to view some of my favourite images.
LANDSCAPES
The gallery of landscape images consists of natural beauty I have observed both in my community of Cambridge and in the places I love to visit including Algonquin Park and area, as well as the Niagara and Lake Erie regions of Southern Ontario.
ARCHITECTURE
If it’s not natural beauty, it’s probably man-made. We humans have a long way to go to compete with the magnificence of “Mother Nature,” but that is not to say that man’s efforts are not without merit of mention and viewing.
PHOTO-JOURNALISM
Above all, I craved to seize the whole essence, in the confines of one single photograph, of some situation that was in the process of unrolling itself before my eyes.
Henri Cartier-Bresson
The ultimate goal of photo-journalism is to create an image or series of images that produce an emotional response in the viewer. Ideally, one that matches how you feel about what you have witnessed. However, isn’t that the objective of all visual art, regardless of the subject?
PORTRAITURE
AHH! My first love in the visual arts, because there is so much to be said about people; their looks, their values, their relationships, their work and their play. It’s a visual smorgasbord that is different every day, every hour. In the portrait gallery you will find my favourite images of people that I have created in the past couple decades. But, like I said, it’s my favourite genre and I just cannot see me giving this up, therefore from time to time I will issue a “model call” when I have an idea for a new portrait expression. If you fit the bill for the portrait or know someone that does, please reach out. For now enjoy these portraits and continue to watch for new expressions of the humankind.
